What's FOGO?

FOOD ORGANICS AND GARDEN ORGANICS = FOGO!

Your green organics bin is now even greener and collected weekly!

If its cooked, raw or old food, or it grew in your garden, then it can be disposed of in your lime green lidded organics bin. Then ANL process it all into commercial grade compost that can be used to help renew our soils!

We need your help!

Remember to  remove all wrapping, packaging and stickers beforehand – even the little bits! They all add up to a very big problem for the quality of the final compost.

Please only use the council supplied compostable caddy bags. Other bags are removed by hand as waste.

After September 2025 packs of 50 bags will be available from the council administration centres and libraries. Singleton residents may also collect from the Waste Management Facility at Fern Gully.

Replacements bags will be delivered to your door at the beginning of each financal year (150 per roll).

The quality of the compost made from the garden organics collected in our 3 councils over the last 8 years has been spectacular. With care, together we can keep our new FOGO end products just as great.

Your Kitchen Caddy

To help you use the FOGO service, households received a kitchen caddy and 12 months supply of compostable caddy liner bags. If you did not receive a caddy please contact your local council.

Replacement rolls of 150 bags will be delivered at the beginning of the financial year.

Use the caddy to collect your food scraps and leftovers before emptying the caddy into you large organics bin.

You can also put your food scraps in the caddy and then the organics bin loose without the bag. It is your choice. The bags are only their for your convenience to avoid the ick factor.

Remember to remove any packaging or fruit stickers first!

What Happens To Your Food Scraps?

The collected organics are processed into commercial grade compost by ANL and are used by farmers, home gardeners, schools and local sports fields. Completing the cycle from organics bin to garden bed and making a scrap load of difference!

To protect the quality of the final product, we have a team of bin inspectors as well as the Solo collection trucks equipped with cameras that record any incorrect material.
